Hello Ralph Thank you for your responce.I can really appreciate genealogists being weary of giving out information on living people, as I too am protective of the folks in my files who are still living. Unfortunately there are many people out there who as you say will abuse the information. I have joined several groups, including the Newfoundland Grand Banks, they too were very protective of information, and only after they felt safe did they share information they had on my family. I have been very lucky in my search, and have located much of the information I was looking for, but there are a few gaps still and I will continue to look. When I was growing up we lived as I do now in Western Canada, and my dads family all lived in eastern Canada. My sister and I only had the oppertunity to meet my grandmother a few times, and a couple of aunts once or twice. Other than that we had little contact with my dads family. My father passed when I was only 18, and there were many questions I never asked him before he died. I guess really at that time my history didn't mean much at all, like most teens I was self absorbed. Now I have many questions and want to leave some history for my children and oneday my grandchildren. I have learned through this research that often records and Gravemarkers are distroyed or lost, as I suspect it is the case in some of the ancesters I have been tracing. Once this happens the history is forever lost. This I think is so sad. I have so much enjoyed learning about my relatives and their lives. I will continue to keep looking and recording so our history will not be lost and can be passed on to future generations. Thank-you again Ralph Regards Nicole Notify Administrator about this message?
