Hi Ter,
I am NOT related, just reading messages. Found the following info it is from the IGI site. Needs to be verified. You may already have it but worth checking for additional info.
I am thinking Dorothy's surname is FIELDING as it is a huge coincidence that their last son, that I know of, has that name. Children as suggested by Mary Gregg in the other message attached.

There is also a Dorothy born to Thomas and Dorothy and she could be the twin of Judith. Why would you have two children named the same?????

As I haven't been able to find anything further back, I suggest that you get, Thomas Jr VAUGHAN's birth cert or christening details, dated 20 SEP 1751 Albemarle Parish, Sussex, Virginia.
This should give you some solid evidence and some details about his parents. Not sure if they had certs then.
You may be able to track the church down that they went to for all their christenings and get some info that way.
They may be buried in the church cemetery or one that it is connected with.
