In the 1850 Houston Co, TX census living in the household of Sam E Burton and Elizabeth J Burton (18 y/o born in AL) are 22 y/o William Vaughan, born AL and 15 y/o Melkijah Vaughan born MS. Through other sources I have learned the maiden name of Elizabeth J Burton to be Vaughan.
Also in Houston Co in 1850 12 y/o Thomas L Vaughan, born Houston Co, is living in the household of John Wortham and 26 y/o Carey Wortham, born AL. Through other sources I have learned the maiden name of Carey Burton to be Vaughan. Also of interest is that a young male Wortham is named Melkijah. That is a name handed down through generations of Vaughans.
In the 1860 Houston Co, TX census living in the Wortham household appears to be another Vaughan. This Vaughan is named Berry Vaughan, 22 y/o born in AL.
Been trying for a long time to figure out these people with no success. Anyone have any info on them?
