Vaughn Family Genealogy Forum

I'm looking for anyone who has a copy of the will of a Thomas Vaughan or Vaughn who died sometime between 1728 and 1733 probably in Nansemond County, VA, but possibly in Chowan County, NC. He owned land in the part of Nansemond County, Virginia that became part of Chowan (and later Gates) County, North Carolina, when the boundary line between the states was changed. This Thomas had land around an area known as 'Caleb's Dowry' which is in current Gates County, NC. A son, John Vaughan, inherited the land, and he sold it back to a neighbor and friend of the family, Henry Holland, on September 10, 1733. In the deed transfer, it states that John Vaughan inherited the land from his father, Thomas, who left it to him in his last will and testament. Thomas' last record was when he witnessed a land transaction of another neighbor, William Speight when Speight sold some land to Henry Holland. This was in August of 1728, so Thomas Vaughan's will should fall somewhere in between 1728 and 1733. If anyone has any information on this Thomas Vaughan or his son, John, or any Colonial Vaughans who lived in Nansemond County, VA, or Chowan or Gates County, NC, please contact me.
