Saphrona Caroline Virdon (Virdin)?
Hi everyone,
Saphrona Caroline Virdon was my great-great-great-grandmother. She was born in 1832 in Laurens, South Carolina. She married Robert Christopher Tinsley around 1849. They eventually settled in Center Point, Arkansas.
I would like to find out more about her. Does this name sound familiar to anyone? I'm unsure of the spelling. I have an old genealogy worksheet that has information gathered from an old family Bible. Her maiden name was written as Virdon (Virdin?) on the worksheet and the words "French" are written next to it... I assume that means that her maiden name was originally French and that the spelling may have changed coming across the Atlantic.
I am undertaking the EXTREMELY DIFFICULT task of tracing back my maternal grandmothers lines... I wonder if I'm the first to do this? Basically I'm going my mother, her mother, her mother, etc...etc... I'm stuck at Saphrona.
Any help is much appreciated!
