Our casualty was awarded the Armed Forces Honor Medal, Second Class. First class apparently awarded to officers, second class to NCOs. It was authorized by the Chief, Joint General Staff, General Cao Van Vien, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces.
It appears that this medal was not awarded to every casualty and we are trying to find out just what the qualifications were/what our casualty could have been doing in Vietnam, to have received this award. I have found one reference to a living soldier who received it. Does anyone out there know of anyone who received it...or anything about the qualifications for receiving this medal?
