The Navy does not have an Air Force. The aircraft are probably Marine jets that get stationed on a carrier.
Anybody that went to Nam had to come out of Travis (West Coast). The presidio was located in San Francisco where the shot’s were given and medical tests performed for overseas deployment. Also shot records were issued there.
The Air Force had flights leaving daily. Some GI’s were put on civilian aircraft. We also landed on Guam headed for Southeast Asia. The Army Air force also would take passengers if they had room.
Hope this helps..
