Most Navy Fighter Jets were stationed on Carriers off shore. Some may have used Air Force Bases at times. Marines used both Carriers and land bases. The two the Marines used normaly were Danang and Chu Lai. The Navy normaly went to Vietnam with there ships. Leaving from ports in the USA. They did not normaly go with the Air Force and Army. Navy stationed with Marines left from Camp Pendelton. Some went by ship and most went by plane. Leaving from one of the many Navy and Marine Air fields in California. Navy stationed with Marines would also go to Okinawa on there way to Vietnam. My guess is who ever you are looking for went by ship.
