Marsha,
As the kids would say, my bad.Thought I had everything listed. Here is the 1930 Census.
1930 Census - April 9, 1930 - Ward 2 - Gallup - McKinley County - State of New Mexico - (Did not get page number - Identifiers on top right hand corner of sheet) - Enumeration District No. 16-4 - Supervisor's District No. 3 - Sheet No. 2A - 108 - 3901 / Household / Samuel Sanchez, Head, 62, Mechanic / Paulita Sanchez, Wife, 58 / Willie Sanchez, Son, 25, Truck Driver / Flora Sanchez, Daughter, 23, Operator-Laundry / Eva Sanchez, Daughter, 18, Mangler-Laundry / Requel Sanchez, Daughter, 15.(NOTE: Samuel passed away in 1937 and Paubla about 1951.Both died and were buried here in Gallup.)
But in 1930, I still have not found Figenia as of yet. With her death date of Aug 1930, she should be in a census somewhere.
My uncle remembers when he was young, visiting Figenia in Magdalena and here in Gallup, and he believes he was about 8 when she died.As he was born in 1922, this would match the time of death of 1930.What has caused some problems is the New Mexico Death Index site lists her death as 20 Aug 1930, which matches the Family Bible I mentioned. But the site lists her age as 98 yrs. 6 mths., and that would place her date of birth about Feb 1832.This does not match with any census I have found so far.In the 1870, 1880, 1900 and 1920, her birth years would be 1848, 1850, 1840 and 1850, respectively.
Now on Manuel, he is listed as being born Dec 1860 on the 1910 census and on the 1880 census, Juan is listed as 15 which would put his year of birth about 1865.So he should have been on the 1870 census.I was contemplating the notion of Manuel possibly being Juan Manuel. As mentioned, I originally thought Flora was Telesfora until I found her marriage entry of 1882 and her and Pablo still together in 1930.In my notes, I have a note listing this census as questionable for right now.
As for Paubla, the family only knew her with a maiden name of Gallegos. And again, Figenia and her girls were always known as Gallegos. When I told them Telesfora was Armijo, it was a shock to them.I need to view microfilm for the marriage entry of Paubla and Samuel Sanchez.Maybe that will shed some light on the mystery.Family trivia, my uncle was named after his grandfather and I was named after my uncle, thus Sam.No part of research but I had to include it.
I may possibly go to Albuquerque tomorrow and view the microfilm at the Special Collections Library and see if I have any luck there.
As always, enjoy hearing from you and any comments, suggestions, etc., you may have.
Sam
