Beverly,
I concur regarding the parentage of Abraham and Thomas. There is also the spelling of the last name. The Isle of Wight branch continued to spell VELLINES, even to this day.I also concur Priscilla (Prisciller) is likely the spouse/widow of Abraham.Might Abraham and Thomas be her sons??Note:Neither Abraham nor Thomas named any of their sons Twaites, or Armistead, or Isaac (for that matter). The Isaac name was continued in Twaites line.
Louise Semones, descendant of Twaites, pretty much concurs. She found the passenger information regarding Isaac on the Ship Salisbury, landing in Virginia from Bristol, England, alone, on December 15, 1700 (300th anniversary next week!!).I found a reference to an Isaac Velins and wife, Hester, in the Threadstreet Huguenot Church registry in London, England, ca 1634.Ancestor of the later Isaac? This makes more sense, because the Huguenot colony that established in Virginia (which probably did not include Isaac), kept their own records and continued speaking french and using french names for a period of time.Isaac' use of Twaites, Armistead, Abraham, etc., indicates he had been english speaking for some time, though possibly of Huguenot origin...
