Faith,
Thank you for the information on both the Vineyard and Vinyard sites. It is very informative and certainly adds to my body of knowledge.
As I mentioned in my discussion with Debra Seaman, there was a "German" connection in my family "fairy tale" (oral history). As mentioned by others, as long as we keep an open mind, we will untangle our family histories.
Regarding the German language - I am not an expert, there are a few common phonetics rules as I understand them such as "W's" normally have an English "V" sound and interestingly "V's" have an English "F" sound. Most German names sometimes have corruptions in spelling, but phonetically still sound the same.A close friend of mine is named Neiller and his family was from Germany, but the family also has phonetic spelling variations - Naylor, Nailer, Naler, et cetera.
Regarding phonetic corruption, I have, as a Vineyard, experienced mispronunciation, such as Binyard or Finyard.A couple of years ago I met a young lady from Pope County in a Vienna, Illinois flower shop who said her family name was derived from Vineyards. They were now call Binyard.

Irregardless of what European area our ancestors came from,I am of the opinion that all Vineyard/Vinyards are related at some point. In my part-time research, I find to many similar threads.
Thanks again Faith for some the best information that I have ever received regarding Chris and Christina Vineyard.
Sincerly yours,
Mel Vineyrd
