Smith County, Mississippi Vinzant family
I have lots of information to share on descendants of John N. Vinzant, Sr. & Sarah (unknown).
John was born about 1776 in GA, obtained a passport across the "Indian Nation" to old Washington Co., MS Territory (now AL)in 1802. Moved to Simpson Co., MS by 1830 census & into Smith Co., MS in 1833 after signing of the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek opened it for non-indian settlement. Settled near the Shongelo Community and lived out his life there.
Sons, Edward Vinson Vinzant & John N. Vinzant, Jr. moved to Texas in mid 1850's.
Sons, William M. Vinzant & James J. Vinzant lived their lives in Smith Co., MS. Son, Francis is a question. Daughters, Ascenth married William Fletcher Bowling, Easter Malinda married William M. Thornton, and Amanda married Richard R. Thornton. There may have been another as yet unnamed daughter.
Looking for any kin.
