Hi neighbor, I'm not sure that the info I have to offer will be much help & the fact that I'm from MN, isn't much help either. What you want to find out is where was your grandfather from. Is your grandmother still living? If not, try to track down a copy of their marriage cert. That may tell where they were born. (Info may be vague, spelling may be wrong, but still a starting point) What DO you know about him? What did he do for a living? If you know when he was born, you may be able to get death info from Social Security (there is some of that info on the net). For the record, the name "Violette" as far as I know, isn't French Canadian, it's Acadian French. There's a difference & it's a very interesting story. My connection to the family is through my grandfather, Raymond Violette, son of John Violette, son of Francois Violette, of Old Town/Bradley ME. He moved from there to MN, apparently to work in the logging industry (he was a river driver). Good luck, I'm sure you'll have fun on the journey!
