hi there,
I have Voice's over there, but they aren't very loud!! ;o)
I would like to know about a boat carrying my voices to MI, on a ship called the British Tar or just the Tar. They arrived from Slinfold parish (Five oaks) in West Sussex. May were born in Billingshurst, but they were baptised at Hayes Independant church in Slinfold, a presbetarian chapel, still standing today, and wondered if you had any knowledge of this family.
there were several of them that arrived. Most had biblical names, Soloman, Cornelius, Cessa and the like.
Cornelius Voice was Born Aug. 1l, 1787 in Billinghurst Parish, England. He married Elizabeth
Smallwood. He died April 13.1858 in Chicago, Ill. He left England and
came to America in 1834, sailing from Portsmouth, England on April 4,
and settling in Woodstock, Canada. The family had lived in Five Oakes in
Billinghurst Parish, Sussex County, England. He was born the 4th of six
children to Richard Voice II and Elizabeth Knight.Spent most of his life in Michigan.
