Bertha (Bouley) Voisine 1913-2009

FORT KENT - Bertha (Bouley) Voisine, 95, died peacefully April 3, 2009, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born July 17, 1913, in New Canada Plantation, the daughter of Alsime and Hedwidge (Marquis) Bouley. She is survived by her sons, Patrick Voisine and his wife, Jean, and Richard "Dick" Voisine and his wife, Norma, all of Fort Kent. She is also survived by her very special grandchildren, Kathleen "Toot" and her husband, Cecil Hafford, Michael and his wife, Tracey Voisine, Richard "Bebe Dick" - her godchild, Voisine and special friend, Laurie, Kevin Voisine and special friend, Andrea, Jason Voisine and special friend, Jessica, Shawn and his wife, Victoria Thibodeau, and Matthew and his wife, Meredith Thibodeau; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ashley Hafford, Payten and Emelia Voisine, Greyden and Sydni Pelletier, and Eileen and Jack Thibodeau; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Alphonse Voisine in 1982; her sisters, Bella Bouley and Gertrude "Marthe" Bouley; and brothers, Leonard, Camille, Alva "Jack," Rosaire and Paul Emile. Bertha was a past member of Ladies of St. Anne and Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post No. 9609, both of Fort Kent. She will be remembered as a hard worker throughout her lifetime, from helping out on her father's farm to planting several large gardens, especially carrots, delivering eggs and vegetables, giving haircuts, knitting pichous and socks and making braided rugs - only to mention a few of the things she did. In 2002 she was recognized as a Master Artist by the Maine Arts Commission and in 2006 she received the Remember Me Certificate of Lifetime Achievement. Her favorite pastimes were fishing and playing bingo. She lived a simple life and what meant most to her was time spent with family and friends. Everyone cherishes the stories she told with such description and detail. She was well known for her braided rugs, many of which are scattered throughout most of the states and even in other countries. Her family is proud of her life accomplishments and the wonderful memories she leaves behind. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent.
