Dear Ben,
You have many MANY cousins descending from the Vredenburgs of New York, and I can assure you that we have not had any Caribbean pirates that I can find yet.
Briefly, this is what I have so far:
Charles Edward Vredenburg (1862 - 25 Apr 1932) married (date unknown) Elly Duffney Vredenburg. There were three sons:
A. George W. Vredenburg (2 Feb 1882 - 19 Mar 1920).He married Louise A. Morris (1880-1965) c1900.He died suddenly of a heart attack at a young age.They had one daughter:
1. Mable Latitia Vredenburg (1902-1963).She married Forrest Milton Cummings 21 Jun 1921).For the sake of simplicity, they had 3 children (1 still living) and fourteen grandchildren (11 still living.)These were my grandparents.Exponentially from there, I can't count.
B. William H. Vredenburg (1888 - 11 Sep 1948).He married Mary A. Fisher (1888-1965) (date unknown). This is as far as I have got on this line.
C. Miles Vredenburg (c1891 - Jul 1972). He married Jennie Willet Wilson (1890-1951) (date unknown).Sometime after Jennie's death he married a lady named Alice, and Miles and Alice would come and visit my grandparents in Florida from time to time.It was my understanding that Miles owned a Cadillac dealership somewhere up there in New York.Perhaps it was his father who had the brickyard.Miles and Jennie had at least one son, Robert Miles Vredenburg (1920 - Dec 1984.)He married Una Underwood (27 Dec 1921 - 25 Jan 2005) in 1944.These were YOUR grandparents, and this is as far as I have got with the Vredenburgs.
D. "Infant who died" which you mentioned in one of your posts I know nothing about.
I have several photographs that I could email to you directly, including one of Elly Duffney Vredenburg and several of Miles, your GREAT grandfather.
