Cushman; Square topped marble with incised line for border; name slug with curved corners; tracery border on slug PA+A-2-18 Cushman, William 1810a - 6/31/1847 aged 37 years ??; "This stone was erected as a fond memento of respectful memory of..."; White marble with square top; oblong panel at the top with an altar (or coffin) with an urn sitting on it and at each side, 2 willows with crossed trunks - quite eroded; side borders appear to be a heavy flowering vine; inscription is small letters and hard to read;, below is space for a verse but no verse; at the bottom, a panel with nothing in it - see stone #21 - 42" high. PA+A-2-19 Cushman, William Henry 1838a - 1/23/1888 AE 49 yrs; son of / Wm. & Lydia S. / Cushman; white marble with curved top; clightly curved name band; quite eroded; 38" high PA+A-2-20 Cushman, Charles G 7/__/1840a - 4/29/1843 AE 2y's & 9 mos.; son of Wm. & / Lydia Cushman / PA+A-2-21 Cushman, Sarah K (Ramsay) 7/05/1813a - 7/01/1834 This stone is erected as / a memento of respect to / the memory of Sarah K. / [1st] wife of William Cushman / & daughter of John & / Abigail Ramsey late / of Rockingham, Vt. / who died July 1, 1834 / Aged 20 years 11 months / 25 days; If for departed worth, a pang of woe / Has torn thy breast or caused thy tears to flow, / Here give thy heart to weep, they pity lend / And mourn the wife, the sister, and the friend This stone is a companion to #18, but it has a curved top--see #18 for description of the design. This one has a verse (above), and the panel at the bottom has the name of the company that made it (Farnsworth & Hough / Marble Works, Dorset, Vt.). This stone is in even worse condition than #18. The arrangement of the burials is a little different-- from the left, the 2nd wife, then the husband, then two children by the 2nd wife, then the first wife. Beyond Sarah is space enough for William and he probably got the matching stones, but Lydia probably wished to be buried to his right. PA+A-2-22 Cushman, Mary K 8/30/1836a - 3/20/1837 ae 6 mos. 20 ds; small white marble with square top; sunken, 17" out of the ground; no parentage; space between it and Wm's ch, implies not their child. PA+A-2-23 Cushman, Lewis 1813a - 10/29/1814 aged 1 year; son of Clark & Cather- / ine Cushman (#s 13 & 14 in this row); slate; 15" out of the ground; fancy bulge top with whirly-gig design in the bulge & leaf pattern around bulge; rope border on lower part.
