I have been searching for my ancestor Appleton Blakely for years. He was born in Vermont about 1804 according to the 1850 Crawford Co. PA census. I cannot find any earlier information on him.
A friend said she was in the Montpelier Vermont Historical Society Library and thought she saw Appleton Blakely listed with family members in a drawer there in the library. She did not know I was looking for him at the time.
Can anyone check to see if there is anything anywhere in the library concerning my Appleton Blakely born about 1804. In 1850 he was a Methodist. Possibly there is a baptism record there in Montpelier which would help me find his family. The name Appleton is unusual and he used this name in all of his censuses. A grandson of his years later was named Harvey Appleton Blakely but I don't know if this means anything or not.
I would appreciate it very much if someone could do a search for me there in Vermont. I live in California. I wrote to Vital Records some time ago and they had nothing they said. I do not know what county or town he came from. I hope someone can help me. Very sincerely, Eleanor Garretson
