J thanks for your response.

I checked my notes and William Butler(1808-1885)had a daughter by the name of Matilda (1831- 1858. She is buried in Arbon Cemetery, in Blossburg, PA.

You said that you have military pension numbers. My William Butler would not be in the war of 1812-1814, because he was born in 1808, but maybe his Father would of been. I don't know his name and anything else about him. He could of had a wife by the name Matilda and then his son might of named one of his daughters after her.

How do I look these records up for soldiers who served in VT from 1812-1814?
