Lyman Rowell began working at the University probably in the 1950s-maybe a bit later. He was an administrator of some sort. Very important to understand that several times Lyman Rowell "filled In" as the acting president of the University whenever there was a change in presidents. The last time this happeneded while he was working there, the board decided that rather than look for a president for the university, they alrady had a very suitable man in the person of Lyman S Rowell and so Lyman was inaugurated as the President of the University of Vermont. He served in that capacity for quite some time and then retired. Thus, he is honored with the naming of a building.
