If you look at the 1910 census of Charlotte, VT it appears that the Laura age 75 is not Grandmother to George but instead is Grandmother "in-law". This would make her Anna's grandmother. Since Laura is not a Smith it's most likely she was the mother of Delia/Adelia. Also, from the original page it's impossible to see what Laura's actual last name is. The image is pretty bad. I see from the 1910 census that she should have a connection to CT. What I did was I searched the earlier census index for a Laura with a CT connection this way: for the 1900 census I entered the first name Laura, left the last name blank, birthplace VT, put a birth year of 1835 give or take 2 yrs and concentrated on Addison Co where the Smiths were living in 1900. There is one good match for a Laura "Knowles" and she does have a CT connection. It appears from earlier census that she was Laura (Carter), probable dau of Solomon and Harriet Carter who appear as born in CT in some census records. Laura named her first child Harriet and later named a son Carter. She also has a dau Delia the correct age to be your Delia. Laura was married to Ira Knowles and it appears she may have had a sister who married Ezra Knowles. It's possible they were two brothers who married two sisters. One census has Laura as the wife of Ezra in error. All the other census says Ira. I think the names were just entered in the wrong order one year. when I did an IGI search on familysearch.org these children came up for Ira & Laura: HARRIET ABIGAIL KNOWLES - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 22 OCT 1858 New Haven, Addison, Vermont CARTER EZRA KNOWLES - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Birth: 04 JUN 1862 New Haven, Addison, Vermont ADELIA HELEN KNOWLES - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 10 JUN 1865 New Haven, Addison, Vermont ELNORA ELIZA KNOWLES - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 17 OCT 1869 New Haven, Addison, Vermont after all this if you go back to the 1910 census the last name could be a messy/misspelled "knoles" You'll have to order some vitals to prove any of this Notify Administrator about this message?
