The Julius R. Robbins age 17 living with Fred as a nephew in 1880 appears to be a son of Simon Robbins.

1870 census Johnson, Lamoille Co, VT

Simon Robbins 40 farmer b.VT (1860 census says b.NH)
Selana 38 b.VT
Frank 16 b.VT
Cora 9 b.VT
Julius 7 b.VT

www.familysearch.org shows that Simon and James Robbins were two of the children of Phillip Robbins and Thankful Streeter. I don't know who posted that information and what their source was. You would have to look into that. maybe the death record of either James or Simon could support that theory.

from www.familysearch.org:

children of Philip and Thankful (most shown as born Barre, but should probably be NH. Apparently Thankful lived in Barre, VT later)

Gender: Male Birth: 09 APR 1834 Barre, Washington, Vermont

Henry S. Robbins - International Genealogical Index

I haven't been able to find this Robbins family on the 1850 census.
