Castleton, Rutland VT Seminary??

I have been trying to find information on my GGGrandmother, Caroline A Allen, b 02/09/1828, Shrewsbury, Rutland Co, VT. She married Dr Edward W McMillan in 1857 in Daingerfield TX. I don't have any birth information for her nor family names for her parents.

I recently received information from an online relative that her name might be Augusta Caroline Allen.

I located an Augusta C Allen in the 1850 Census, Castleton, Rutland, VT. She is the right age, born in the right place and is a student in a Seminary along with many stuents and employees (I think).

I checked online and found a little bit of information but would love to have more. What would a girl be going to the seminary for? Did it have a medical school too? I just can't find much online.

Thanks for ANY help.
