John Henry CROCKER (b. 1845 Cornwall, ENG) and Elizabeth Jane BOWDEN (b. 1852 Cornwall, ENG) are both in the 1870 census as follows: 29 Jun, Vershire, Orange Co., VT, Folio 475, dwelling 172, family 184: Bowden, Edward/42/male/white/Work in Mine/b. Eng/F&M foreign born/cannot read or write/male citizen 21+ denied right of vote Bowden, Elizabeth/40/F/W/Keep House/Eng/F&M FB BOWDEN, Elizabeth/17/F/W/at home/Eng/F&M FB Bowden, Mary/14/F/W/S/Eng/F&M FB/attended school within the year Bowden, Edward Jr/6/M/W/Eng/attended school within the year CROCKER, John H./26/M/W/Work in mine/Eng/male citizen 21+ denied right to vote Rowe, William/25/M/W/Work in Mine/Eng/male citizen 21+ Higgins, Thos/22/M/W/Work in Mine/Eng/male citizen 21+ denied right to vote They are then listed in Bedford Co., PA as follows: 25 Aug., West Providence Twp., Bedford Co., PA, Post Office of Bloody Run:Dwelling 137, Family 144: CROCKER, John H., age 25, Male, White, Works in Mine, born England, father and mother foreign born CROCKER, Elizabeth J., 19, F, White, Keeping house, b. England, father and mother foreign born. It would appear by this unusual double appearance in the 1870 census, that they were MARRIED between 29 June and 25 August 1870. But, the Crocker family Bible I possess lists their marriage as 19 June 1869. Were they married in Orange Co., or somewhere between VT and PA? Help with this will be appreciated. Thanks.
