I am looking for information on the Lougie(Lougee) and Kemp families of NH and VT I have found a 1880 census record for Vermont, Orange Co. Bradford with Sylvester, born about 1852, and Emma O (O for Olanna?) Kemp Lougie, born about 1851, who had a son named Walter E, born in jan 1880. 1. I have the 1900 census for Piermont listing Sylvester and his children. 2.The birth dates of Sylvester and Walter, especially Walter as it is right to the month. 3. The profession of Sylvester is listed as Stone cutter, and in the Gazetteer of Grafton county NH for 1886 Sylvester Lougie is listed as living in Piermont /Haverhill NH as a stone cutter and farmer along with /near a John F. Lougie , born about 1825 AND married to Lydia Lougie, born about 1832, John F. may be Sylvester's father. (see note 4) 4. I found records from the Church of Latter Day Saints family site that has a John F Lougie and Lydia Lougie and there two sons Sylvester (1852) and Charles F (abt 1849). Linking Sylvester to John. Lougie is sometimes spelt Lougee 5. I have the 1900 census for Piermont listing Sylvester and his children. Which matches the dates given for Sylvester and Walter's birth in the Bradford 1880 census 6. the census records I have found WITH THE CHILDREN listed all list Sylvester's wife as being from Canada, in the column concerning the nationality of each child's mother. 7. the 1880 census record for Vermont, Orange Co. Bradford lists Emma O. Lougie's nationality as Canadian of English descent. (though the 1900 census appears to have the abbreviation for french). and Finally I have a 1870 Salem Orleans Vermont Census listing Emma Kemp, from Canada, as a domestic servant in the household of Alviry Lyon. So what I am looking for is a record of the marriage of Emma Kemp to Sylvester Lougie (or Lougee) within a few years prior to 1880, recorded in Vermont, to link these two as the sole surviving Lougie (now 88, and my great Aunt) is unsure of her Grandmothers lineage and Kemp is her best recollection, though she is sure Emma Olanna is right as her grandmother went by both.
