Hi,

I wonder if you can help me please with my inquiry regarding my 4th great grandfather Alexander MacGregor. He was a merchant in New York & Liverpool England from 1781 - 1828. I am trying to find out what property he owned in America at the time of his death on 6th December 1828 & what happened to it after the 18th December 1838 when probate was granted in New York to Andrew Forster & his nephew, also named Alexander MacGregor and residing in New York.

In December 1802, Alexander Macgregor advertised he was “Intending for Europe” and offered for sale houses in Greenwich and Gold Streets New York and a country house within a mile and a half of the Coffee House.

I believe Alexander Macgregor had a dwelling house on Rivington Street New York plus valuable mefsuage, and a Hemp "Plantation" i.e. 4000 acres in Orange County, New York.

I will be grateful for any assistant you can afford me.
