I am in search of documentation to supplement and verify Avis Marcy as wife of Revolutionary soldier Burpee Prouty. Burpee & Avis lived in Windsor Co., VT. Her last child was born in 1811. She died sometime before 1827 when Burpee remarried Mrs. Martha Ballard in May 1827. The Marcy Family Record names her as wife of Prouty but I need more substantial documentation, such as a property deed from her Marcy father naming her (Avis) as now wife of Burpee Prouty, or perhaps a quitclaim naming her Marcy father. The DAR has confused Avis Marcy thinking she is the same peson as Martha Ballard (giving her as Martha Avis Ballard) and I am trying to get a correction made. A bible record, marriage record, tombstone record would be great. My access to Vermont records is presently pretty thin. Any help would be appreciated.
The record of Martha Ballard 8 May 1827 marrige to Burpee Prouty might also help. The record may be in the town of Sharon in Windsor County.
