In recent research for my ancestry of the name of Butler I have found connections to the name of John Yeamans. In the will of John Yeamans Sr he mentions he had servant John Butler. He also has John Pope name mentioned and in searching have found that Sarah Yeamans married John Pope. I think this the the father of William Pope who married Mary Bozeman. No proof at this point however he certainly would fit here. Of course there is no proof of William Pope's relationship to
Richard Pope from whom we have Ann Pope of George Washington.

It appears the Yeamans went to the Cape Fear area of North Carolina and so did many of the people who were early settlers of South Carolina. I know my ancestor William Butler was born in South Carolina in 1792, however have not at this point learned his father's name. Recent DNA testing has my ancestry very close to Edmund Butler and Frances Cooke.

I believe my ancestry connects to John Butler who married Mary Wallace and the time frame and location make it possible however again no proof that this John could be the John in North Carolina land abstracts 1663-1729.

I found this by the research of the name Kornegay, as John Butler and Mary Wallace have child who married into the Rorie family and in that family is also the name Kornegay. In the lineage of Kornegay is Edward Outlaw and Patience Whitfied and this connects to the name of Needham Bryan. The ancestry of Needham Bryan gets one to Edward Bryan who married Ann Butler.

The location of the property of John Butler in North Carolina is in the area where we have Hardy Council and Richard Washington.

Richard Washington was not yet in my research and this is how I have come to this point.

Also in searching using DNA the markers also match the name of Roche. In that research the name of Somers connects to the names of Butlers and the purchase of land from Ralph Butler.

In my family tree, my father was a Sutton and in that family we have Willis Pope who married Mary Jones. Willis Pope's ancestry gets me to William Pope and Mary Bozeman.

I have been intrigued with the fact that Pope, Sutton and Butler, names in my family tree, are all in the family tree of George Washington.
