I have a copy of a letter to Joseph Edgar Parrish (he born May 9, 1881) Parents Felix & Mary (Mconnell) Parrish. Letter written by Paul ( could be Theodore Paul Parrish) at time mail: Box 247 Union, Oregon. The letter was retyped by my mother Dorris Elaine (Parrish)Street in 1960's. Union Oreggon March 8, 1965 My Dear Cousins: Well, Joe, I espect you will be surprised to hear from me, but I owe you a letter I am sure. How are your folks? Well, I hope. Just that sneakie old age creeping up on us, and we can't do anything about it. I had a nice letter at christmas time from our Third Cousin, Joseph Edgar Parrish, of Spencer, Indiana. He is about 85 years old now. We have been writing to each other for the past five years. He is the son of Francis Osbury Parrish. Nephew of our Grandfather, Edward. They all left Kentucky about the same time, moving to Owen County, Indiana where they are still living on the old homestead of his Grandfather. He also sent me a clipping out of the paper telling of the death of Thoomas Parrish, who was 103 years and 10 months old, never sick or had a Dr. in his like until the day he died. Lenuel Parrish also the Nephew of our Grandfather Edward. (Lenuel is my (Karen) great uncle. Our Parrish line is one of the oldest families in Ameriaca. They dated back to 1620, the coming to Elizabeth City County, Virginia form Yourkshire, England, where our ancestors were of the Nobility, or Blue-bloods, or the Royal Family. They were given large grants of land in Virginia and Maryland. In later years some of these families started moving to new frontiers to settle, first moving to Ohio, Ill., Indiana, Missouri and Iowa. Some of the parrishs same to Kentucky with Daniel Boone, the Parrish family have married in the Boone family years before coming to Kentucky. Also, When Boone left Kentucky and moved to Missouri, a Joseph Parrish and family also moved to Missouri and was the first white family there in theat part. This Joseph Parrish was the som of Jolly Parrish whose father was also called Jolly Parrish of Louisa County, Virginis, and he was a Colonel in he Army during the Revelution. Do you remember hearing the names of any of those people. Joe? They are our close relations. Also, did you ever hear the name Perkins in the family? We are pretty sure our Great Grand Father Nelson Parrish's Mother, or Grand Mother, was Elizabeth Perkins who married William Parrish about 1743 in Virginia. If you do remember hearing this name it will sure help us in this research work. Also, we are looking for a William R. Parrish born in 1820 in Virginia, or Kentucky. He was left an orphan at about the age of 10, Both his parents dying about the same time. It is thought that an uncle raised him, and that he was the brother of our Grandfather Edward. Do you ever remember hearing about the death of our Great Grand Parents, Nelson and Elizabeth Parrish? Did they die in Kentucky, and did they die with the "Yellow Fever"? I have been told this but have no proof of it. do you have any History on this? This William R. Parrish, the orphan married Amelia Reed in 1845 in Kentucky and they had children who were James O., Francis Ann, Thomas, Charles Riley, Perry, Cynthia Beatrice, Elizabeth and Mattie Dye. His son, Charles Riley, had a son Claud Scott who married Martha Wardon. Also, some of the names of the Grand-Children of William R., are Tobert, Fanny, Jessie, Paul, Maud, Grace and Hohn Raymond. You will notice that these names are all in our family. This name Mattie I have found only twice: in your family and the family of Barnett Parrish in Kentucky, so what do you think of it, Joe? We have a Cousin, Thomas Parrish, living at Maryville, Missoui, who has a Niece living in Spokane, Washington. She is our Third Cousin and she is 80 years Old. Her Father was Hiram Juiles Parrish, and his father was Thomas Milton Parrish who also is the father of this Thomas in Missouri who happens to be 93 years old. This Niece of Thomas is Manie and she is a member of the Church where my son Ted and his family in Spokane go, and we know her well. she says she remembers her Grandfather telling about this William R. Parrish and also about Jolly Parrish. I sure hope you can help me on this, and I would like to hear from you soon. Hope this finds yor folks well---- Love and best wishes to you Paul Box 247 Union, Oregon Karen --- ( Thomas Eldrige Parrish# 1, Nelson E.
