Frederick Archibald Turnbull - Aberdeen - early 1900s

I went to my first highland games in Vista, California, USA last weekend. I was most interested in the knowledge of Scottish history. I supposedly have Scottish blood from both my mother and father's sides of the family (Steele and Turnbull). The Steele family may be from the Tweedside District. Could anyone give me a good direction to start researching the families? I know my great grandfather was Frederick Archibald Turnbull and lived in Aberdeen and Skykomish, Washington, in his early 20s. He had a brother named Sam(uel) and was born around 1900. Beyond that I'm stumpped. Unfortunately, I'm preparing to deploy to Iraq again in August 2009, so I won't be able to hop on this until I return in December, but any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much. Caleb Steele, steelecf@yahoo.com
