Judy:

Thanks for the abundance of information.

I have been trying to place this William STONE c1829.NY- as the son of Andrew STONE(1795.VT) and Aurilla CRANDALL appearing in the 1850 Chautauqua Co. NY Census.

The 1900 Census entry for Lee STONE c1871.MO- showing an uncle: Lee STONE c1858.IL- would indicate that this is not the case because it would tie Lee b.c1858.IL to William b.c1829 as brothers. Andrew & Aurilla never had a son in Illinois. In 1860, Andrew was a widower in Chautauqua Co, NY.

Thus on the surface, this information would indicate that William b.c1829.NY and living in MN and WA is not the son of Andrew. However there are several problems with the Lee b.c1858.IL as brother of William. This Lee would have been born almost thirty years after William - quite a gap. Further, Lee does not seem to show up in 1860, 1870 or 1880 census causing me to wonder about Lee b.c1858.IL as a brother to William and whether the 1900 entry is an error.

Thus I have further work to do to resolve these questions.

The Roger STONE who entered WW II from Washington did not survive - KIA sometime around 1944.

Thanks again for your input.

Andrew BROWN
