The most important fact that you found was the "D" for Divorce that I had overlooked in the 1900 Census.
I was able to narrow down the time & place Cora was last known to be.
That would be March 14, 1896 in Washington, John Oliver Brooks birthday.
I believe that I may have been told by Thomas 'Gabe' Carman that she had remarried, but I just can't reconcile that she could seemingly abandon her kids.
My father, Harvey Brooks, took me to Nooksak, Wa. about 1981 & I met Gabe and his wife Viola.
He is Israel B. Carman's son by second wife, Katherine Bulmer. So my fathers half-uncle.
By the way I have found that Melissa Towns Brooks remarried an Anderson.
I'm curious, are you & I are related in some way?
