I read a message in this thread that talked about a "John Munson" supposedly being the father of Mary. "John" is a name which is probably Americanized from various Swedish names such as Johan, Johannes, Jöns, Jon, Jonas and so forth. John was used but much less often than the other variations. If the father was Månsson (son of Måns; remember that Munson is not a Swedish spelling), then his children would be Jönsson (son of Jöns) or Jönsdotter (daughter of Jöns). They wouldn't have taken his last name since they were not the sons or daughters of Måns. They were the sons or daughters of Jöns.
This person was found on the Emibas Cd. She was a "modern" female since she used "Jönsson" instead of Jönsdotter.

I checked to see who her parents were, using the scanned parish birth records for Härslöv parish on the fee-based Genline site.

Her father was Jöns Månsson (whose name could have been spelled John Munson in U.S. records by someone unfamiliar with Swedish names) and her mother was his wife, Johanna Nilsdotter. The mother was 26 years old.
I suspect this is the family, as found in the transcribed 1880 Swedish Census found on the fee-based SVAR site. The mother's age is a bit off, based on the birth record, but priests weren't necessarily good in math. ;-) The birth year is probably correct, unless the priest couldn't read his own handwriting, however. (Sometimes dates in parish records were misread and so we always need to go back to the birth records to get a better chance of having correct information.)
