My Christian Weber family emigrated on the Bilander Oliver and entered Philadelphia by way of South Carolina on August 26, 1735. The Bilander Oliver ship's list shows Christian was 28 on that date (thus born ca 1707), wife Anna Mischler was 25 (thus born ca 1710), sons Hans and Christian 7 and 3 respectively (thus born 1728 and 1732). Also travelling to America with Christian Weber was an Anna Weber (born ca 1715, perhaps his sister). Faust and Brumbaugh's book Swiss Emigrants to America in the 18th Century describes a Christian and Anna Weber family who emigrated from Schwarzenburg, Bern, Switzerland (the Granery area near Wahlern). LDS filmed Wahlern Church and Schwarzenburg Chapel records. A search of those films clearly supports Faust & Brumbaugh. The Weber name was spelled WABER (with the two umlauds over the a). This family may have been one of those persecuted for their aversion to infant baptism/bearing arms (NO Wahlern 1707 baptism for Christian Weber; I did find Christian married Anna Mischler in April 1728 grand gravida; baby Hans' baptism was June 6, 1728; baby Christian's baptism was 1732; three dau did not show in ship's records and probably died young). Christian (1732) married Anna Dornbach in 1754, lived on the line between Cocalico and Brecknock Twps of Lancaster Co; Christian's 1814 will was proved Nov 1816 -- Lanc Co Ct Hse. Christian (b ca 1707) may have been the Christian Weber living on the Joseph Long estate (tax record Warwick Twp, Lanc Co 1782). Persons leaving Switzerland for America went through Holland; some went to England first (Queen Anne helped the 1709ers to upstate New York... see Schoharie Weber families described by Hank Z Jones). Wahlern Church Records of the 1660-1680s show many Weber/Waber families. Could it be that your John Henry descended from one of these lines? Could it be that your John Henry is a brother or cousin of my Christian? MJM
