Jim,
I'm not a serious researcher but I do have some information and I have the advantage of being a great grandson of the original George W. The first George W. was one of the sons of Johann Andreas Georg Weckesser. Johann arrived in Philadelphia on September 13, 1749 aboard the ship Christian. You're probably thinking that I can't possibly be a great grandson of the first George. Well, great granddaddy George was born February 13, 1770 in Pennsylvania and died January 11, 1846 in Spring Place, Georgia. He was married at least three times and had 16 children that we know of. His first marriage, to Mae(?) Paige, yielded four children, the last of whom was George Washington Wacaster. The second George W. was born June 3, 1803, most likely in western North Carolina, either Rowan or Lincoln County. He died in North Carolina on July 22, 1886. He was my grandfather. He also married at least three times, and most likely four. His last wife, Sarah Chapman, was 45 years younger than he was. Sarah was my grandmother. They had nine children, the 7th of whom was my father, Adolphus Jordan Wacaster, born March 1878 and died January 1965. So, my grandfather was 75 when my father was born, and my father was 65 when I was born. Of course, my mother was my father's third wife and was much younger than he. One interesting thing is that my grandfather was 75 or so when my father was born and my father was the seventh of nine children. Still to come were my Uncle John and Aunt Minnie.
Regards,
Art Wacaster
