Hello Again,
Have any of you heard of a Cleo Wachtel, possibly the daughter of John Henry Wachtel (b. November 12, 1873 in Illinois?) John Henry was the son of George Wachtel and Mary Elizabeth Lemke/Lemte (Mary Elizabeth signed her certificate of marriage with an "x.") He is also the brother of my great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Wachtel (1875 - 1964.) The reason I am asking is that, just before my beloved father passed away, I was asking him the names of ancestors whose pictures he kept in a large cardboard box. There is one picture of Creeds and Wachtels, and on the back are printed, among other names, "mom" which is Mary Elizabeth Wachtel Creed, "dad," which is her husband Willet Creed, and "Cleo." My dad couldn't quite remember who Cleo was, but I suspect she is John Henry's daughter. Does anyone remember a Cleo Wachtel? I'm assuming she must have been born around 1893 - 1900, perhaps in Illinois. I'm not sure where the photo was taken but it may have been taken in Pasadena, California, when the Wachtels came to visit many years ago. I'd really appreciate your help in identifying this relative if any of you know who she is, or who the children of John Henry Wachtel were. I have a lovely, very old photo of a lot of Wachtels whom I can't identify, and if anyone is familiar with the Wachtels of Richland County and Edwards County, Illinois, I'd be glad to send you the photo to see if any ancestors look familiar to you. There are so many Maryland Wachtels and Illinois Wachtels, and someday I'd love to make the connection with the common ancestor.
