Franz's role in Napoleon's Army

My name is (Bruce) Bartja Wachtel. My place in lineage is from Franz Wachtel -> Martin Wachtel -> John M Wachtel -> Earl E Wachtel -> Beuford Bartja Wachtel -> Melvin Earl Wachtel -> Bruce Bartja Wachtel. I just came back from France on a vacation and was curious about the second largest painting in the Louvre, a painting of the coronation of Napoleon and his generals all in the painting. My father has, what I believe is really a written oral history one of our relatives did about 50 years ago that said Martin was a General in Napoleon's army, but if anyone was, it must have been Franz, but he may have just been in the army and not a General at all. Does anyone know of any documented history? I need to read the postings on here, but thought I would ask up front if anyone knows of any documentation, depdending on response time. I'm currently building my paternal and maternal lines on Ancestry.com.
