A nice web page Jan. Unfortunately nothing seemed to click.
It has come to light recently that while I thought I was looking for a William Waddell from Polmont it is more likely William was born at or near Bo'ness. It seems that Polmont (as he quoted on census) was a Parish at the time that extended all the way to the Firth of Forth and included the town of Bo'ness.
I never could make sense of his being from Polmont. Now it makes a little more sense.
