William Waddel and Sarah Morrow of Rowan County, NC and Greene County, GA were from County Down in northern Ireland. They left Ireland with five daughters in 1766 in the wake of a small-pox outbreak that took two of their children. Their grandson, John Newton Waddel, D.D., LL.D., does not mention parents or siblings in his biographical sketch of William and Sarah, nor does he name any of their children except his father, the Rev. Dr. Moses Waddel. Jane Dobbins, wife of William Dobbins, can be shown to have been their daughter. Jonathon and Alexander Waddel of Greene County, GA almost certainly were their sons.

William and Sarah lived near Fort Dobbs which was founded by colonial military leader Hugh Waddel in 1756 and as far as I know William and Hugh Waddel were not related.
