Maj Hugh Waddell was the son of Gen Hugh Waddell (1734-1773) and Mary Haynes (1734-1776). Gen Waddell was the son of Hugh Waddell (1708-?) and Isabella Brown (1711-?), of Ireland. The elder Waddell went to Boston, then son Hugh went to NC. Much history about Gen Waddell. Mary Haynes was the daughter of Capt Roger Haynes (a British officer, for whom Castle Hayne, NC is named) and Margaret Marsden. Margaret Marsden was the daughter of the Rev Richard Marsden (the first rector of St. James Church in Wilmington). You can get lots of Waddell history from the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society in Wilmington, NC, probably including the complete line from Maj Hugh Waddell.
