Waddells of Monaghan; Hope Mastertown Waddell

I have been working on a short biography of a prominent N.Irish woman, Isabella Tod. Her mother Maria was a Waddell from Monaghan and related to Hope Mastertown Waddell, the important early missionary. Does anyone know how they were related? Were they brother and sister? Also how did Maria meet her husband, said to be a merchant in Edinburgh, James Tod?
