Jno. was the common abbreviation for John. I feel certain that this John, signing in 1776 was the John Waddell married to Rachel Quee.

I've just come across "Waddell's Station" also called "Waddell's Fort" which is described as being near Jonesboro about this same time period. Could this be our Waddell?

In 1796 John Waddell was the first postmaster at Jonesboro.
I believe this was the newly married son-in-law of John Sevier getting a nice position. (John and Rachel's son)
