I have this information in my book on Through the Years. The history of Ardley, Delburne, Lousana and districts.
Robert Waddell was born on August 29, 1870 in Ramsay County, Eight Line, Ontario. He married Mary McTavish on March 12, 1901 in Ontario.They farmed in that area for the next six years and in the spring of 1907 they and three sons boarded a settler's train and arrived at Nevis after two-week ride. at one point on the trip when the train was sidetracked in Calgary, a car loaded with wheat had broken opens so the settlers filled some bags to use as seed at their homestead.
Dad and Mother decided to come out to this area because several residents were planing to established a Reform Presbyterian Church (Scottish Covenanter) which they were members of in Ontario.
Mary died in 1933 and Robert died in 1971 at the age of one hundred years old.They had 7 children: Boyd, Clarence, Kenneth, Della, Glen, Myrtle and Evelyn.
I am trying to find out who his parents are and who were Mary's parents and anymore information to fit them in with my Waddell's family. I have some more info in this book, but too much to write here. If anyone is related and would like the information, please E-mail me at
