Hi Peter: Thank you very much for your reply and the additional info. After putting all this info together, I find I have a letter which was sent to my grandmother (Maude Agnes WADDELL, 1876-1973) by her uncle (Walter Valentine WADDELL, 1849-1936) in 1908, in which he states that his grandfather (my 3rd gr grandfather) (Walter WADDELL, 1791-1866) was born 28 May 1791 in Kent Co., England, about 2 years before Thomas WADDELL & Mary Catherine GRIEGSBY were married. In addition, he says that Walter WADDELL had only one brother, whose name is Isaac WADDELL & who came to America soon after Walter WADDELL. He says Isaac WADDELL married twice and had 17 children by the 2 wives. All of which leads me to think that in spite of the fact that several internet sources show my Walter WADDELL as son of Thomas WADDELL & Mary Catherine GRIEGSBY, those sources may well be incorrect, & I have been chasing the wrong line of WADDELLs. Walter Valentine WADDELL further states: "I was raised by my grandparents Walter and Ann Marden WADDELL and learned more than my father Thomas Marden WADDELL ever knew about out family history", so I assume the info he sent my grandmother is correct. Unfortunately, Walter Valentine WADDELL had only 2 children, one of whom died young & the other has no descendants that I know of, so there are no descendants on his line who I can contact to learn if they have done any genealogy or kept family records. Again, thank you for sharing your information. Best, Gary Notify Administrator about this message?
