Thank you for your quick response. I'd be happy to email you a copy of the letter, but I'd prefer to email it directly to you (for which I need your email address), rather than post it on the internet.

The author of the letter is Walter Valentine WADDELL (1849-1936) my great granduncle & the same one to which you refer. The letter was actually sent to my great grandmother (Winnifred Catherine Smith WADDELL) and copied by my grandmother into her journal.

I have Edward Isaac WADDELL (1851-1944) as brother of the above Walter Valentine WADDELL.

The software I use is Legacy, which can import a gedcom. I'd love to have a copy of your tree. I'd be happy to send you a copy of the WADDELL portion of my tree, my database has 90,000+ individuals, so sending you the whole thing is probably not necessary.
