I am trying to trace my Waddell family roots. I was born In Charlottesville, VA. My mother was Nancy Waddell Cole. She was born in C'ville in 1910. Her parents were William Wirt Waddell and Mattie Payne Waddell. William's parents were Lyttelton Waddell and Nancy Montgomery Waddell. Mattie's parents were Thomas Benjamin Payne and Mary Walker Payne. I don't have dates for these folks but would love to make some connections. I remember my mother telling me that the family traced back to James Waddell, the "blind preacher" in the 1780's in VA. I have found references to him and his sons but cannot find a forward connection beyond them. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
