Waddell Family Genealogy Forum

Hi! I'm a descendant of Young D. Waddell. His last name was also spelled Waddle and Wadle. He was a Union Soldier during the Civil War. The "D" in his name stood for De Lamar and he was called "Dee." He is my gggrandfather, so that makes us cousins! I assume you are the descendant of Erasmus "Greene" Waddell. My grandmother told me that the family name at that time was spelled "Waddle, " but that Greene's younger siblings who were writers changed it back to Waddell which was the spelling before Young was born. In case you don't have them, I have all of Greene's siblings. Young was born on November 22, 1825, either in Virginia or Chariton County, Missouri. He married Nancy Jane Floyd on December 2, 1847, in Lawrence County, Missouri. Young died on January 30, 1886 in Greene County, Missouri, probably in Ash Grove. Nancy was from Orange County, North Carolina. She had a sister named Sally.
