You can look up births, marriages and deaths on FreeBMD and Ancestry but it is only those ones that have been transcribed. The full index is on 1837online.com. I presume you are not in the UK? It is probably easier to go to the General Records Office in Southport as the local offices often do not take credit cards and prefer a stamped addressed envelope. You can also order through 1837online.com but I think you have to buy some credits and become a user. http://www.1837online.com/Trace2web/ The GRO is at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ You can order online here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/index.asp#0 There are some commercial organisations that advertise supplying certificates but charge significantly more than the GRO. They charge 7 pounds if you supply the reference number which I think is the one on the FreeBMD site and Ancestry i.e. Volume: 8c Page: 587 If you are in the UK then just go direct to the local office in Bolton - details on GENUKI http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Bolton/ http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Bolton/CivilRegistration.shtml Martin Notify Administrator about this message?
