Thomas Waddington of York married 1811

I have traced my Waddington connections back with some certainty to the marriage of Thomas Waddington to Jane Wrightson at St Margarets Church in York in Sept 1811. I am descended from their son Francis born/christened in 1832. Any info about Thomas Waddington would be gratefully received. Family tradition has it that he may have some connection with Bolton by Bowland and Waddington on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border. Family tradition also tells of a boating accident in which the sons of the then Lord Waddington were killed; my great grandfather believed himself to be the descendant of one of these young men. The wives of two were expecting at the time of the accident and the estate was left to the first of these children to be born. Sometime during the 1920's or 30's my great grandfather James Waddington was contacted by the Waddington family who were tracing their descendants so I am fairly certain we have a connection to the family in someway. I have no way of knowing if any of this is fact but the story has survived atleast 4 generations in my family. Does anyone know anything?
