from New York newspaper Friday, December 4, 1936 OBITUARY Rev. D.F. Pierce, former Utican, succumbs at 89 Retired Minister Was Former Head of M.E. Districts The Rev. David Franklin Pierce, D.D. 89, retired Methodist Episcopal superintendent and one of the few remaining membergs of Bacon Post 53, GAR, died yesterday, Dec. 3, 1936, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Kilpatrick, Glens Falls [NY]. <excerpt> In 1874 he married Miss Mary Jardin [of] Waddington, [NY] who died in 1875. In 1876 he married Miss Adeline Phillins, Dickinson, [NY] who succumbed in 1905. Five years later he married Mrs. Mattie Crosier, Rutland, Vt., who died last February. <excerpt> My note: He was my maternal step-great grandfather. Sorry, for my error.
